A battery failure after updating your iPad to iPadOS 16.3 is likely to be a coincidence - and not itself as a result updating your iPad.

If the battery has swollen, do not attempt to charge the iPad. Disconnect from the Power Adapter. As a precautionary measure, keep the iPad away from flammable materials and surfaces.

iPad batteries typically last for many years in regular use. A swollen battery is faulty battery - and not simply a battery that has reached the end of its usable life.

Apple quotes its iPad batteries to retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1000 full charge cycles - a “full cycle” being any combination of charging that sums to 100% (e.g., 50 + 20 + 15 + 15 = 100%).

If battery service is not offered by an Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) in your country, your options are somewhat limited. If battery replacement cost is broadly equivalent to replacement with a new model iPad (potentially with better technical specifications), replacement of the iPad is perhaps the most obvious and advantageous option.

Thanks for letting me know but i have a question regarding the repair of my IPAD , i.e. In India , there is no repair policy of IPAD as mentioned by Apple Service Technician. As per him, replacement is the only option and the cost of replacement is almost equivalent to the purchase cost of IPAD. Now my question remains whether the battery is made to last for only 2 years??? even after splurging a hefty amount??? I have even escalated this via email to the Apple management but haven't received any response from them (15 days has been passed since then).

Any kind of suggestion is welcome.
