iPhone 14 Pro Water Resistance

Hello, I’m wondering if it’s possible to take the iPhone 14 Pro in the pool with me for taking underwater photos. It is supposed to be water resistant and I’ve seen it not get damaged in water tests. Any help is appreciated.

Absolutely not!

If it was mine I wouldn't do it just because warranty doesn't cover any water damage. See the following footnote from iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max - Technical Specifications - Apple

iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are splash, water, and dust resistant and were tested under controlled laboratory conditions with a rating of IP68 under IEC standard 60529 (maximum depth of 6 meters up to 30 minutes). Splash, water, and dust resistance are not permanent conditions. Resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. Do not attempt to charge a wet iPhone; refer to the user guide for cleaning and drying instructions. Liquid damage not covered under warranty.

one of my friends who upgrades every year told me he’s been doing it since the iphone x, and hasn’t had any water damage. i also see iphones consistently survive the water tests even when put down to depths below they’re supposed to. it’s confusing to me. i do have applecare so worst case scenario i have to pay $99 and get the phone replaced.

Good for them, but note taking an iPhone into a pool will not be covered by AppleCare+ as it only covers accidental damage:

Accidental Damage means physical damage from handling due to unexpected and unintentional events.

AppleCare Products - iPhone - Apple

Note in the AppleCare+ Terms and Conditions (specifically section 4.1(d)) that it will not cover damage caused by intentional conduct or use in a manner not intended by Apple.
