I want to block a specific number, but I also want the ability to view the messages later if need be. If I block that person, will the number be entirely blocked where they can't send anything? Or will I just not receive the messages until I unblock them?

You will not receive messages till the number is blocked. However, you can view all the messages that were received before the number was blocked.
