You do not without compromising the integrity of the datatbase—the last thing you want to do is corrupt this database through the Finder, rendering it useless.



You are better off erasing the entire drive and starting new.

The way to interface with TM is through the TM interface from the upper right menubar.


The main advantage of TM is that it creates recursive backups—enabling you to restore a specific file or the entire drive— from a certain point in time. There is a lot of magic that happens in this software, not documented or available for review.

More than one device, more than one backup methodology.
