Apple CarPlay guidance volume instead of music volume

I’m using Apple CarPlay in a 2017 Honda CRV. This car has a wired CarPlay system. When I try to listen to music on my iPhone it seems like when I first plug it in I can adjust the volume of the music but once i start moving, then that becomes disabled, and when I move the volume knob, it only seems to adjust the guidance volume. And as a sidenote, on this, the audio on the music tends to waver a little bit as well when it starts happening. I have already attempted to restart my phone, but the soft and hard restart. I’ve also unpaired and repaired my phone in the CarPlay settings. None of which seems to of worked. I tried even just switching the orientation of the cable going into my phone to see if that had any impact. Any advice is certainly appreciated. Thank you.
