I have one PC, an iPAD and an iPOD. yet iTunes says I have 4 computers authorized. I don't understand. What happens if I delete them all?

The IPad and iPod don't count toward authorizations (only computers do). "Deauthorize all" and then reauthorize the PC. See the following from Authorize or deauthorize your computer for iTunes Store purchases - Apple Support
To deauthorize a computer that you don't have access to, you have to deauthorize all of your computers. Then authorize each computer that you have again. You can deauthorize all computers only once a year.
