moving mouse to ipad on sidecar locks ipad

I've setup sidecar and i can move my window from the MacBook to the iPad. but when I move my cursor over to the iPad, the grey sidebar shows up with my cursor on it (so the iPad is registering my cursor) but as soon as I move the cursor beyond the sidebar and onto the mainscreen of the iPad, the iPad locks and the window moves back to my mac. I've turned handoff on and off and that hasn't worked. I'm up to date on latest updates. how do I fix this?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.12

Hello sabrinee,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. We see Sidecar isn't working properly. We have a few steps that may help you resolve the issue.

To start, here is a user guide for setting up and using Sidecar:

Use an iPad as a second display for a Mac - Apple Support

We suggest following that resource, and if you're still experiencing issues, let's force restart your iPad, and restart your Mac:

Force restart iPad - Apple Support

Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support

Once turned back on, let's test again. If issues persist, let's start the Mac to safe mode and test again. This will rule out 3rd party programs and apps as a cause. Here is how: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

If Sidecar works in safe mode, take a look at the processes you may be using in conjunction with your Mac and Sidecar and see if they might be the cause.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
