When i try to facetime, it picks up but just shows contact picture and also cant hear them.

If you don't see any improvement after trying those steps, could you please confirm if this is happening with all contacts or just one specific contact?

Also, do you have any other Apple devices? If so, are you able to make FaceTime calls on that device as expected?
