When I do the factory reset will it delete everything from my new phone?

I try to switch phone companies and they say to do reset factory my phone. I did that but I was not able to switch because my phone was locked. Now I back to my old phone company and I want all my data back. What is my next step with my phone? Going to restore my phone?
