Repurposing old MacBook; can't log into music with apple id

Repurposing wife's old MacBook to hold my extensive collection of music downloaded from CDs. I am trying to sync to my phone which has more than 5000 songs. I have used my Apple ID on this computer, switching the computer from my wife's apple ID. That is working fine, except now when I try and login to the music app, nothing happens. I enter the User ID and the password and it seems to work fine, except when I click on account, the sign in is still dark letters and my apple ID is not shown as being signed in. I don't get an error message. When I click on the authorize line, I go back to the sign in box, I get "There was a temporary problem completing your request. Try again later.


Ideas? Thank you!

You could try quitting the Music app.

Restart Mac: (Apple Menu > Restart)

Log back in, and see if you can now sign in ok.

(Will often clear the way, and return to order)


Else ... could your wife's log-in still be in effect ... ?

might have to log out of her account before you can sign in with yours.

Wondering if you may need to add the Mac to the list of devices in your Apple ID:
