Calendar invitations not working

Have a strange problem. My wife and I use both iPhones and iPads. When she sends me a calendar invitation, it shows up in my calendar app, I accept it and no problem. If I send a calendar invitation to my wife by typing her name in the invite space, it comes to her email. If she selects “accept” it immediately goes to the iCloud in Safari showing it was accepted. But it does not show up on either her iPad or iPhone calendar. Then if I put her phone number in the invite space, it comes up with her name (and a question mark) and then I send her that invitation. It then shows up in the calendar app to be accepted, but does not show up in the iPad calendar, and shows up twice on the IPhone calendar. I have made sure that we are both using the iCloud calendars, and to the best of my knowledge our settings are the same. Any help?

Hey there FireEye121,

Those are some strange things to occur when sending your wife a Calendar invitation using either method(email or phone number). While you may need to contact Apple Support about this, we'd like to first rule out all we can, along with learning more about what's happening:

  1. When did this start?
  2. Have you been able to send someone else Calendar invitations without having any issues?
  3. You mentioned she has no issues sending them to you, and you have no issues accepting them, but has your wife had any issues sending Calendar invitations to other people, or accepting them from others?
  4. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPad and Restart your iPhone
  5. We see you have iPadOS 14 installed on your iPad, and you mentioned using iPhone models too, but if your'e using compatible models, the latest version is iOS/iPadOS 16.4.1. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
  6. Are each of you using your own Apple ID in your own devices?

Cheers!
