Any ideas why my MBP M1 Max won't shut down when plugged into the power supply? I can shut down, computer shuts down, but then it boots back up right away. When I unplug the power supply, it stays shut down.

Is it related to the auto-boot feature, which starts your computer when lid is open or plugged into power. You can disable this feature by going to Utilities > Terminal. Copy the command below and hit return:
sudo nvram auto-boot=false
This can be set back to normal by changing the value to true.

I would be curious to hear the full story what happened here.
My notes say that command, as posted above— will brick a M1 mac
and I have never recommended it myself on M series Macs...
That terminal command appears to have worked, thanks. Auto-boot, LOL. Oh, Apple.
But then a funny thing happened... and I had to have a "genius" reinstall my OS.
