How to create a bootable drive of an old os version on Ventura?

Ah ok, maybe it isn’t the right file then. My MacBook is a MacBook Air from 2018.

When I click the link to download high sierra it does give me the option to ‘get’ but when I click it takes me to the system settings and says there are no updates available, have tried with mojave and had the same result.

The Macbook did ship with an earlier version, I can’t remember exactly which it was but I’ve had it since 2018.

I think I’ve managed to do it though, I was able to download the high sierra dmg from the App Store in the browser rather than using the native app. Hope it will work when I try to make the bootable drive later on.

Ok I've figured it out, thanks for your help. My Macbook's original OS was Mojave so although the app store gave me the option to download High Sierra it wasn't compatible. Have tried now with Mojave and it's worked, not sure why it didn't work the first time, but this should have solved the trouble. Thanks for your help.

My mac running Ventura wouldn't work then?

Could I create a bootable drive of Ventura to install onto the old iMac? Not sure how well it would run but would be worth a try I think.
