On my Mac - Monterey OS 12.6.5, when I right click on the pages icon in the tool bar, many names of documents that have been deleted are still in the list. Currently, there are > 40 deleted names in the list. How do I get rid of this list?

The process that picas described works for me on macOS 12.6.5 and Ventura 13.3.1, in both cases, Pages v13.
The Recents menu is a stack and does not automatically purge deleted files from it until the quanta of newer recents pushes those entries from the stack.

Pages menu File > Open Recent > Clear Menu.
