Recognize my voice stuck on iCloud sync - Apple TV

Hi all,

I wanted to try the "recognize my voice" feature that recently came to Apple TV as of TVOS 16.2.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, on 16.4.1, and in the Home App under home Settings, under my Name, recognize my voice is turned on, and I also turned on, show me on Apple TV, and selected the Apple TV in the bedroom, which is a 3rd generation also on 16.4.1. I'm working with a fresh configuration of TV OS.

The problem is, when I go to turn on Recognize my voice in Settings and under my user in Apple TV settings, I get the confirm on device popup I click it, confirm on the iPhone, and get the check mark on both devices, then "recognize my voice" goes grey with a spinning gear, and to the left under the Apple TV picture, it says currently syncing with iCloud, this make take a few minutes. Well, it never seems to finish and activate. I've given it up to a couple days on the first try, and today it's only been a couple hours. So is the feature broken, or am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated. I haven't been hardly any reports of the issue and I've tried to look up the issue first before asking for help.

We appreciate the update iFrog41,

From here, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple directly for additional assistance using: Apple Support

They'd be the best hands possible to look into this further with you, since it's occurring across multiple Apple TV devices.

Cheers!

That's my exact thinking, because I may need an apple engineer to look at my account while I try to activate the service, or at least someone who can access what's going on in the background and maybe can see something failing, or malfunctioning below the service. I mainly asked here to see if anyone else has had the problem.

Thanks again. I'll be calling them shortly. I'll report anything I find out.

Hello iFrog41,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to enable Recognize My Voice feature on your Apple TV. To help with this, please restart your Apple TV as this can be helpful: Restart Apple TV - Apple Support

Then make sure you are following these steps:

"Siri can recognize the voice associated with the same Apple ID you use on Apple TV and another Apple device. You can set up Recognize My Voice for up to six users on Apple TV.
1. On an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, do either of the following:
* Set up voice recognition in the Home app on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
* For more information, go to the HomePod User Guide.
* Open Settings > Siri & Search, then turn on Listen for “Hey Siri.”
5. Open Settings  on Apple TV.
6. Go to  Users and Accounts, then select a user.
7. Make sure Recognize My Voice is turned on."

And that is from here: Talk to your Apple TV - Apple Support

Cheers!

Thank you, everything you just posted is the guide I followed. The problem is Recognize my voice NEVER activates on the Apple TV, it just sits at syncing with iCloud. I have considered calling Apple Support as so far, no one online has been able to help me solve the problem, or even seems to understand exactly what the problem is when I've described it, and also explained the troubleshooting steps I've done.

The bottom line is, even when following Apple's own instructions, for the Apple TV, the feature never activates. For the iPhone it works fine. I've tried multiple Apple TV models and they ALL have the same problem.
