IPhone lost, backup missing

I lost My IPhone 12, I do have a backup since recents notes and contacts are stored. However when syncing the new phone i can’t find it among the available backups. What can I do?

syncing and backing up to icloud are two different things. Synced items aren't part of the backup. What does iCloud back up? - Apple Support
