I have a late 2013 quad core i5 8 GB 1600 mhz ddr3 running is Catalina version 10.157. Is there anyway to speed it up? In start up alone it takes much time (already checked to see that no additional apps in start up)

Starting a Mac in that mode normally takes a lot of time. Let it finish. Once it starts up, use it long enough (perhaps a half hour) to observe and describe how well it performs. Then, restart it normally (not "Safe Mode") and observe again. Compare. Reply with your observations.

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...
I went this route and am really happy with results. I went from 3plus minute startup to about 35 secs.
