When I transferred information from my old iMac to the new one the mailboxes under ON MY MAC did not transfer. How do I recover them?

You might try exporting those mailboxes from the old Mac, and then importing that info on the new Mac.

Recreate the mail accounts on the new device and emails will follow right along.
