Mac Studio is unable to send signal via USB-C to Monitors

To expand on what BDAqua said,

All versions of the Mac Studio support DisplayPort and Thunderbolt on their rear USB-C ports.

Only M1 Ultra versions of the Mac Studio support Thunderbolt (and presumably also DisplayPort) on their front USB-C ports. On M1 Max versions of the Mac Studio, the front USB-C ports support USB data transfers – and presumably USB Power Delivery – but not the whole "Swiss Army Knife" set of protocols that the rear ports do. This is related to the fact that the M1 Ultra – being two M1 Maxes joined back to back – has more Thunderbolt controllers than a single M1 Max does.

So if you have a Mac Studio with the M1 Max chip, don't use front-panel USB-C ports for plugging in monitors, display adapters, or hubs/docks to which monitors are attached. Use rear-panel USB-C ports instead.

Note that the 27" Apple 5K Studio Display requires a Thunderbolt connection and a Thunderbolt cable, due to its high resolution.

I'm having the exact same issue. I tried replacing the USB-C 40GB/S active fiber with a new one, and it still doesn't work. It was fine for over a year. I've changed nothing.

Are you using USB-C data cables or Thunderbolt cables?

If you have a Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra chip, you can connect up to five displays using only the front and back Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports (without using the HDMI port). The Studio Display also features three downstream USB-C ports that support speeds of up to 10Gb/s for connecting peripherals, storage, and networking devices.1 Apple includes a 1 meter Thunderbolt cable with the Studio Display, and longer cables can be purchased separately.2 If you have a display that uses DisplayPort, DVI, or VGS, you'll need an adapter with a USB-C connector (which is supported by Thunderbolt 4). The Mac Studio has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 10Gb ethernet port for connecting to a wired network.0

are all these cables appropriately SHORT?

for USB-C cables, it should be marked USB 3.1 SuperSpeed+ or better, and 1 meter or less.

For ThunderBolt, it should be 0.8 meter or less.

longer cables could cause transmission errors that would shut down the display.

Apple-brand Thunderbolt cables for display purposes are engineered to be as long as 0.8 meter (2.6 feet). Other brands need to be limited to under 0.5 meter (1.6 feet).

more recent versions of MacOS are more insistent that there be no errors in transmission. You may not have changed anything, but MacOS has.
