iMessage failure within shared appleID members

I've been looking everywhere online for assistance and I can't find the answer. I'm hoping someone can help?
Myself and 2 children share my AppleID for purchases, etc. but only 1 of the children is in the 'family group'.
Yesterday I began to notice that my texts to both children were green, regardless of whether or not I sent them from my phone or my Macbook. (I connected my messages from both devices over one year ago without issue).
This issue is ongoing.
- I have data with a carrier. I can access my data without an issue.
- The 3 of us are sending and receiving iMessages and SMS messages as usual and without interruption to everybody else. We are the only ones affected.
- I have tried signing out of my AppleID and back in, as have the children. We've all tried turning off iMessage and signing back in. We have checked to ensure that the correct phone number is being used to send and receive messages on each device.
- This is not a location dependent issue, as we've tried from multiple locations both with Wi-Fi enabled and disabled.
- I have tried completely shutting off iMessage from my Macbook as well, and the issue persists.
- I have not updated my phone or laptop in the past week, nor have my children updated theirs.
- Oddly and as an aside, their phones do not ring when I try to call them but they can both call me without a problem.
Has anybody ever had this issue and how did you resolve it? I'm at a loss and I need to be able to contact my children and they need to be able to contact each other as well.
