How do I insert a footnote in iPad Pages?

I have an iPad Pro and version 13.0 of Pages.

I cannot figure out how to insert a footnote in a document. I have followed the instructions in Help, as well as those given in the forum, but nothing seems to work for me. No matter what I do, an option to insert a footnote does not appear for me. I have tried to customize my toolbar, but a button to "insert" is not available. Help!

I figured it out. I did not have the shortcuts bar turned on. I turned it on by going to Settings: General/Keyboard/Shortcuts. The Shortcuts bar now appears on the bottom of the screen, thus allowing me to access the footnote function. Voila!
