Homekit no response on Apple Watch, works on iphone

I had a similar problem…Apple Watch no longer recognized my Home or Homekit accessories after Watch OS10 and iPhone OS17 updates. Somehow my Watch was no longer signed-in to the Watch app on iPhone. Go to the Watch app on iPhone, then go to General>Apple ID and check to see if you are signed-in. If there is a “Password” prompt below your Apple ID, you are not signed-in on Watch. Enter your password…wait a few minutes for Watch to sync with iPhone and check the Home app on Watch. These steps may resolve the issue.

I was able to fix the issue by turning Background App Refresh off and back on for Home via the Watch App on iPhone. I was immediately able to see my cameras and other accessories on the watch.

Just tried unpairing and then restoring from backup. This also works. Much less painful than restarting from scratch.
