Back glass on my watch 8 has broken, not sure how. Very little is chipped away and there seems to be some small internal shattering. Everything on the watch works, sensors work normally. Since I noticed the breakage (1 week ago), it has not spread.
I am wondering how important it is to change the back glass or replace the watch? Could the breakage impact sensors in long term?

Visit an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Reseller in your region for assistance to diagnose the problem.
And they could offer a possible solution.
