OSStatus error -5000

What does OSStatus error -5000 mean? I am trying to delete large files and a few cannot be deleted--I get this error status instead.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.12

Insufficient access privileges for operation.

Is the large file you're attempting to delete on a protected volume?
