AirPods Pro Gen 2 low call volume on MS Teams on Windows 11

When using the AirPods Pro (2nd generation), the volume is normal when not in a call. However, during calls, the volume is significantly lower. It appears that connecting AirPods Pro (1st generation) does not result in the same issue.

It would be helpful to know if others have experienced the same issue with AirPods Pro (2nd generation) on Windows 11 when using Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Thanks.

I just had this issue and solved it! All you need to do is, when you're on a call (whether it's MS Teams, Zoom, or Ring Central), turn the volume up by using the stem on the AirPods. If you don't know how to do this, you can swipe upwards on the front side of the AirPod stem. I would recommend turning this all the way up. You know when it's at 100% because you'll hear a higher pitch noise than when you are just increasing the volume. Then, change the volume on your computer to the appropriate volume.

I think this is happening because there are two volumes. The first is a master volume that's used when you aren't in a call. The second volume is only used when you are on a call, but it is layered under the master volume. So if the master volume is really low, no matter how high you make the call volume, it can't make up for the master volume being really low. The issue arises because the AirPods can only adjust the master volume, which is hidden when you are on a call.

AirPods 4th Gen - same issue, no volume control on the stem

I experience the same issue with my new AirPods 4th Gen. However, the AirPods 4 can't adjust the volume using the stem. Please help resolve! Tried to adjust settings within Device manager, Teams, etc. But no luck. The audio is perfect when only listening to musi etc, but when on a call, then volume becomes very low.

This was never an issue with my previous AirPods

This fixed the issue for me. It looks like Windows is detecting communication and reducing other sounds for the call, not taking into account that the sounds are the actual call!

Press Windows key + R, to open Run dialog box.

Type mmsys.cpl and click on OK.

Go to Communications and select Do nothing.

I too have the exact same issue with my new AirPods 4th Gen & they don't have the volume control option through stem. Tried many ways but couldn't increase the volume for MS Teams calls although it works perfectly for Media & Music on my Windows 11 Laptop. Can someone help please?

For me the opposite/other person voice was coming pretty low, i was barely hearing his voice.

Fix:

Please select the below settings in your Microsoft Teams Audio setting and restart your laptop. This has fixed my issue. In microphone section , please select the laptop microphone not air pods.

Can confirm the trying to increase volume using the stem does not have any effect if the Windows volume is at 100%. AirPods Pro 2 volume when connected to Windows PC is very low to where they are unusable. Problem is isolated to Pro 2 (I have Pro 1 and AirPods 3 - neither ones have this problem - only the Pro 2).

Folks,

I came across this thread discussing issues with the AirPods 4th Gen, and I encountered a similar problem. After purchasing the AirPods 4th Gen, I found that I couldn't use them for office MS Teams calls due to low/very feeble audio volume while with other apps it is perfectly working fine ex: Youtube. I tried all possible solutions, including using the stem to increase the volume, but had no luck. I went through all the system settings, but still no success. Has anyone managed to fix this issue with the AirPods 4th Gen? Please advise.

I followed the discussion and performed all the suggested actions, but still no luck.

This didn’t work for me. Swiping either Pod’s volume it would just play the ding that it’s already at maximum volume.

What did fix it for me was installing this app from the store called MagicPods. It cost $2. They have trial so you can see if it fixes it for you too. Not sure what having that app installed does but volume is now normal when using my AirPods

Hey SparnoAcorn,

We'll be happy to help out with this! Try cleaning the AirPods Pro using the proper procedure here, then see if that helps with call volume: How to clean your AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, and EarPods - Apple Support. If that doesn't help, does it seem to only happen when using the specific programs you mentioned? Does it occur when listening to other types of audio on the same computer? This information will help us isolate the issue a little more.
