My left AirPod stops working during phone calls after about a minute, although the battery stays at 💯. The right one lasts about 10 minutes before the battery dies.
Why does my left airpod not work any longer with my android phone?

Wondering if the AirPods firmware needs updating to stay compatible with your Android Operating System.

Here’s an update. I guess my iPad mini and my AirPods are just getting old. Maybe they’re getting close to end of life. I finally made it to this page: About firmware updates for AirPods - Apple Support
which seems to say that 6.8.8 is the most recent version of them (iPad mini 4 seems to be topped out at iOS 15.7.9). My iPad tells me my AirPods are at 6.8.8 - so I guess it’s time to toss them, sigh. I thought maybe I could just get a new battery, but maybe not.
Thank you for the update, cullen5902.
Commiserations ... our devices do seem to become "vintage" then "obsolete" as far as Apple updates are concerned. At least the airPods have updated to 6.8.8., the latest for Gen 1 AirPods.

As you think that your battery has an issue, it's up-to you whether to replace or not.
If you want, you can: learn about AirPods service and repair.
Thanks @brbo,
I have an iPad Mimi, although I use AirPod Pros with it. I use my old AirPods with my work phone, which is a Galaxy zFlip. I will follow your link as I’ve suspected this might be necessary. Hopefully I can connect them to my iPad and get the firmware updated.
There are a couple of Apple stores not too far away, so it’s good to know that is also an option.
cheers
