I use dual monitor - the model of the monitor at my home is different than in the office but it has the same problem

Problem

The built-in display automatically sets into mirror mode. I go to Display settings and stop the mirror mode but after a few minutes/hours it sets back again to mirror mode. It happens regardless of the monitor I use

No idea why this would happen, unless maybe you somehow accidentally press Command-F1 - this is the shortcut to toggle between mirroring and extended desktop.

Even if this does not solve the problem, knowing this shortcut will at least make it much quicker restore your display.

Just press Command-F1 and boom! you have extended desktop again.
