I cannot use the touch Id on my Magic keyboard
Is it totally unavailable or just not working at certain times?
TouchID is not designed to totally replace your password, there are times you have to use the PW. Generally when that's the case a message is displayed stating to enter your PW.

"For Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, turn your keyboard off and on, then connect your keyboard to your Mac with the USB to Lightning cable. After you turn Magic Keyboard off then on, Touch ID may be unavailable for up to 10 seconds."
