Need Help with external hard drive for MacBook Air M1 Ventura base model 8GB ram 256 internal

This is my first computer since 2009 im looking for an external hard drive for the MacBook Air M1 base model so can back up my computer. I know Apple that’s not me any external hard drive I’ve been doing some research trying to find which one do YouTube videos where the mouse research I can’t do a reset without getting one.

Any suggestions because I need to back up my device I have a iPad that I have from school and I just bought the computer so both devices have all the stuff on it and this is an iPad seventh generation the school gives everyone a brand new one free when you start and you continue to take that one out throughout your education at the school and when you graduate you get to keep it it only has 32 gigs of internal storage so I can’t even see the last update on it so I need to start packing things up and especially since I just got computer in April when I bought the computer it came with the Ventura OS Version already even know it is the M1 MacBook air base model so 250 GB are the internal storage and 8 GB of RAM I am only using 25 GB of Internet all and I’m only using 3 1/2 GB of RAM)

You have listed all well known and reliable brands of external drives. I think any that are 1 TB or larger would be suitable; you will want at least 4x space on the backup compared to what you are backing up. The SSDs will be 5x to 10x faster than the external HDDs, but that will likely only be a factor for the first initial backup; subsequent backups are incremental and will be quick. Some believe the SSDs to be more rugged or reliable than HDDs, that might be true if you travel a lot, the SSDs are also smaller, more portable. Note that the cost of HDDs per TB is also lower.


I would not depend on articles on the internet "best drives for your Mac/PC." Instead, I would look for 3 or 5 year warranties (because those indicate that the manufacturer believes its product will last) and customer ratings that are 4.5/5 or better on large retailers' sites with thousands of ratings.
