I get prompts to connect to iCloud with a very old ID for which I've forgotten the password. Any attempt I make to check this old ID with Apple, the message states no such ID registered. (It may have been connected to my previous MacBook long since deceased.
Any suggestions please?

What type of device is this occurring on?
When does the prompt appear? For example, when trying to update apps, sign in or out of iCloud, etc.

Thank you for your response and time.
I have a 12 year old MacBook air. The prompts - usually only 2 - appear after I log on. Very occasionally a prompt suddenly appears randomly. I cancel and nothing more.
I seldom have the wish to look into the iCloud but if I do the system insists on the old ID so I get nowhere.
I think you are right to suggest I may need the Apple people.
I'm not a techie so there's not much I could do on my own.
