Messages won't send to one recipient

Though I successfully message back and forth with my friend from my iPhone, I keep getting error message "Your message was not sent. Click Try Again to send this message." when I use the Messages desktop app.''

I've tried the following:

  • rebooting the app and the OS
  • making sure I'm logged in on the app
  • messaging others successfully with the app
  • enabling all essential preferences

What could be the reason for my desktop messages not going through for 3 weeks?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.6

Re: "Messages won't send to one recipient

Here's one possibility:

You might want to check that the Contact card for your friend has all the correct details:

Text, call, or email a contact in Contacts on Mac - Apple Support

If needed you can edit the contact card: Update contact information in Contacts on Mac - Apple Support

INB: Click "Edit" at the bottom of the window to begin :

(Click "Done" to save your changes)

Else: If you friend has an Android device, you may need to use cellular data for SMS Messages.to that friend

(iMessages generally go by wi-fi Apple to Apple)

Eg: If you can’t send or receive messages on your Mac - Apple Support
