Using Apple TV with a hifi from RCA To Aux

Hey there,

i am thinking about purchasing an Apple TV in the far future.

I have a hifi amp and speakers which is from the 90s and is connected to my tv using an RCA to AUX connection via the headphone jack. In my testing it works rather well with my Xbox and my google tv with chrome cast 4K My tv is a Phillips 2020 4K TV and I’m wondering if I can listen to Apple Music via Apple TV still if it is connected in this way? I’ve seen very conflicting answers on the internet about this and it’s very confusing.

Yes that would work, the same as for Xbox or the Chromecast dongle, or the native TV smart apps.

The Apple TV box connects to a HDMI port on your TV, and your TV does passthrough of the audio to your audio system. You may need to set the Apple TV to Stereo output for this setup.
