Hi there - I've recently restored my MacBook Pro to Catalina - with all the latest Catalina OS updates.
However the 3 lines notification icon is missing from my menu bar and I can't seem to get it back. This is the icon I'm referring to:
and this is my menu bar:
It used to appear next to me name, the furthest to the right icon - but now it's not there!
Any guidance would be appreciated :)

You don't need to delete the whole com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file. Just open that file in a text editor and change
<key>NSStatusItem Visible Item-0</key>
<false/>
to
<key>NSStatusItem Visible Item-0</key>
<true/>
and restart.

Does Sys Prefs>Notifications show up fine?
Start with this...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

I managed to resolve it by going to Library > Preferences > and deleting the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file and restarted.
This reset my menu bar customistaions to default and restored the notifications icon back!
