If I want to have someone’s location from their phone number how would I do that without getting the location of the iPad that also has service?

my boyfriend was sharing his location with me for a while now. Today I wanted to add his iPad to my location tracking since he has a habit of leaving it around. When trying to connect I accidentally deleted his location from iPhone and got the iPad location. So now when he shares his location it pops up as the iPad and not him. My question is how do I change it back to his phone?

There is a big difference between the location of a device and the location of a person.

You are trying to find the location of a person. That person chooses which device represents their location.
