Help with Apple Watch and iPhone fitness app tracking

Ever since I linked my Apple Watch to my phone. The apple fitness tracking app doesn’t show any steps. It’s as if it doesn’t connect with gps like it once had. Do I try disconnecting the watch and retry linking the two?

iPhone SE, iOS 16

  • Make sure that Fitness Tracking and Health are turned on. Go to Settings > Privacy &Security > Motion & Fitness on your iPhone. Make sure that Fitness Tracking and Health are turned on. See the pic below
  • Check your iPhone's Location settings. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Make sure that Location Services is turned on and that the Apple Watch app is allowed to use location services.
  • Restart your iPhone and your Apple Watch.
  • Update your iPhone and your Apple Watch to the latest iOS watchOS update.

I appreciate the advice. I did all mentioned suggestions except for shut off and restart phone. Which I will do tomorrow. Every other thing hasn’t helped. I fear it’s the age of both my 2nd hand series 4 watch (updated) and my iPhone SE 3 years old ( updated).
