How do you eliminate page breaks so you have one continuous scrolling document?

What do I do when I want to create a document not for printing, but for reading off the screen? I don't want those horizontal lines between the pages, but want it to flow without these.

Hi father_danjones,

I don't know if this will work on an iPad. I am using a Mac.

Create a custom paper size.

Menu > File > Page Setup... > Paper Size

Here is a size called Scroll, created through Manage Custom sizes

That allows continuous scrolling, no page breaks (until you reach 9999 mm!).

Regards,

Ian.

Hi father_danjones,

"Scroll" is a name that I assigned to that Custom Paper Size. I use millimetres and I set the Height to 9999 millimetres (the greatest number that seemed to work for me). I am glad that Height 300 inches is working for you!

I found this for iPhone and I think it will be similar on iPad:

See details under Set a custom paper size.

Happy Paging!

Ian.

Pages is a word processing application and text flows from one page to the next, so those thin pagination lines are not removable by any Pages setting. You can export the document as Rich Text (rtf) and then open it in Apple's TextEdit where it will be a continuous scroll of text.

It was a long day yesterday. You can single-click a Pages document in the Finder and press the spacebar. This opens the Pages document for display in Apple's scrollable Quick Look interface without the visual lines formed by page boundaries as seen in Pages.

We all have days like that! Thank you. There are still big gaps between pages, but the lines are indeed gone. Sadly for me, I use an iPad for my presentations and there doesn't seem to be a way to do this there.

I have used Microsoft Word for years and years and am trying to go "all Mac, all the time." And save $7.55 a month (which I pay to Microsoft).

Again, thank you for your help. I love picking the brains of experts for free!
