how long does it take for the mouse to charge and how do I know it is fully charged?

So this may be a silly question.... If my mouse is not working because the battery is dead and the mouse does not work when being charged, how am I supposed to be able to click on the Control Center to then click on Bluetooth to check the charging status of the mouse? My mouse is not working.

The problem here is that there is an assumption in these instructions that users will have an extra mouse lying around to use when the magic mouse battery has died.

The mouse has no visible indicator light or laser, so nothing should be on. The Magic Mouse 2 takes about two hours to fully charge.

I often leave the Bluetooth control panel open, then connect the Magic Mouse Lightning so I see how much it has charged.

The charging time depends on the charger -- via Mac mini 2018 USB slower and via Mac Book Pro charger faster.

Old thread, I know, and I apologize for that. The Magic Mouse 2, which is the rechargeable one has a feature that if dead, a quick 3 minute charge will give you enough power to easily get through an 8 hour day. Just remember to plug it back in to fully charge later.

After a short period of time, the mouse should be charged sufficiently so you could unplug it, and use the mouse to check the Bluetooth menu to see its charge level.

If it is not functional after 15 to 30 minutes of charging, then something else is wrong. Note: it will not be fully charged in that interval, but it should have enough charge to be usable.

And if you had gotten a Magic Trackpad, then you could charge it and use it at the same time 😁

Yes, I stopped using a mouse in 2010 when the first Magic Trackpad was released, along with BetterTouchTool (inexpensive, but a paid app that is wonderful when used with a trackpad, or keyboard, or mouse 😁)

Is your mouse an Apple product? If not Apple, and Magic mouses have no lights, you'll need to ask the maker or consult the literature that came with it.

But the simplest solution is to plug it in and let it charge overnight as often as needed..
