I am not subscribing to Apple Music but I still have a large collection of downloads from I-Tunes. Is there any advantage I get from Apple Match now that I do not download any purchases from Apple

The Apple Watch does a lot more than access Apple Music.

For music specifically, you can transfer music to the Apple Watch from your paired iPhone to listen to when not near the iPhone and without access to Wi-Fi or cellular. You don't need an Apple Music subscription for that.

iTunes Match gives you access to all of your music on all of your devices, even songs that you've imported from other sources such as CDs. iTunes Match uploads your music library from the Apple Music app on your Mac or iTunes for Windows on your PC. Then you can access your music library on all of your devices that have Sync Library turned on. See:

You may correct. My mistake. I swear I read watch. not Match.
Match as Apple Music are essentially the same. They offer an iCloud Music library you can access from all your devices.
Apple Music adds the option of a full catalog of music to play from and download like other services such as Amazon music or Spotify on top of accessing your own library on all your devices over iCloud.
I think you mistook Match for Watch.
If I do not subscribe to Apple Music, are there any advantages to keeping Apple Match
