Receiving Push Notifications But No Connection In Apps

Hi! I'm connected to 5g and am getting push notifications, but when I open any app it says I don't have an internet connection. Same problem on WiFi. I've checked/done the following:


  1. Ensured OS is the most updated one
  2. I've restarted a few times.
  3. Toggled back and forth from WiFi and Cellular
  4. Disconnected and reconnected the WiFi and Cellular
  5. Reset Network Settings


I don't know what happened. It was working perfectly fine last night and I woke up to this hot mess. What else can I do? Thanks!

I figured out the issue so I'm going to post the response here because I didn't find it in any of the apple discussion threads that talks about this issue. Found this answer on another website after seeing a ton of other websites telling me to "restart my phone" (I was losing my mind every time I read that).


Check your VPN.


  • Go to "settings"
  • Click "general"
  • Scroll and click "VPN & Device Management"
  • If there is a VPN listed under this section, delete it.


It worked almost immediately for me! I guess my VPN glitched and just started spiraling...taking everything down with it.

Checking the VPN configuration did work because I went into it inside the general setting and tried to turn the one I was paying for off so it would stop trying to connect and the switches flew back and forth violently but the one I had scored the configuration to years ago looking for surveys was causing the problem I forgot about that one and the one I was paying for from the app store sprung back to life so if resetting your network settings doesn't work then check to make sure nothing is stopping your VPN!

okay so im somewhat having the same problem but my phone tends to only work on wifi but i can still send text messages and calls and also i get notifications ? this happened to me for a year where my phone didn’t work and it stopped once i had gotten a new phone and now it’s happening again when i connected to a vpn. i just deleted the vpn and my phone is still not working i don’t know what to do .
