Superdrive not seen by music

After importing a couple of CD's to my M1 iMac my superdrive suddenly was no longer recognised. Any CD was shown on the desktop but not in Music. Have disconnected drive and done a restart to no avail. Any suggestions please?

If the drive is now connected through a USB hub, try connecting it directly to the iMac's USB port. That requires an adapter, but several posts here say that only Apple-branded adapter work best in this situation. See this for the three preferred Apple adapter models:
