disable trackpad on MacBook Pro 2010 High Sierra 10.13

I want to disable the trackpad and cannot find how to do it. Online articles suggest going to the accessibility panel and checking a box to disable trackpad. There is no box like this on High Sierra. Also suggested that you disable trackpad by enabling mouse keys, but then the keyboard does not work.
