My photos take a huge amount of my storage even my iCloud only has 2k photos and it says it’s full even tho I have 50gb and 2k photos take 48gb of the 50

If your friends are using the High Efficiency (HEIC/HEVC) formats and not you that would explain the difference.
Are you shooting RAW or RAW+ jpeg? Again that would be greater in size.

Are they all photos, or are some of them videos? Videos each take substantially more space than photos, especially long videos and those in higher quality settings.
I only have 4k photos but it takes 62gb, I find it to much for the amount of photos. I have friends with 10k photos and it only takes 16gb
