You will get several replies saying you never have to shut down your computer. The choice is yours.

I fail to see any reason to leave it running using energy while I'm not using it.

I was concerned about that with my iMac but according to my Kill a Watt meter it draws 0.00 amps when sleeping.

Every macOS version for at least the past decade and a half automatically releases RAM from processes that become inactive, or when higher priority apps or processes require it. You may have been reading old and outdated information.

I do a lot with my Macs also. They are never routinely shut down. You can certainly shut them down or restart if the need arises, such as if it should become inexplicably unresponsive, won't connect to a wireless network, things like that — and that's only because a restart is simpler than doing anything potentially more time-consuming. macOS updates also require reboots, which might be required every few weeks or months until Apple stops releasing them. Other then that Mac do not benefit from routinely being shut down.

That question implies there is a need to periodically shut down a Mac. There is no such need.

Perhaps you should describe your apparent reason for assuming there is such a need.

“I have read” There are tons and tons of bad information, disinformation, misinformation, and just plain lies on the internet. Almost everything should be taken with a big grain of salt as people have opinions about any subject.

I don't know of any specific requirements. I restarted my previous MacBook Air and Pros about once a month. I restart my current M1 iMac about once a week. Never any issues with either.
