Hello gmcgaughey,

It sounds like your iPad 2 may require service, if it's not loading or allowing you to set it up/use it. If you are using an iPad 2 Generation, these would be considered an obsolete product, due to the age of the device. Learn more here: Obtaining service for your Apple product after an expired warranty

About obsolete products

Products are considered obsolete when Apple stopped distributing them for sale more than 7 years ago. Monster-branded Beats products are considered obsolete regardless of when they were purchased.

Apple discontinues all hardware service for obsolete products, and service providers cannot order parts for obsolete products. Mac laptops may be eligible for an extended battery-only repair period for up to 10 years from when the product was last distributed for sale, subject to parts availability.

You can use the following to get prepared for a visit: Get your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch ready for service

Search for nearby Apple Authorized Service Provider locations: Find Locations

If you cannot service the product, then it may be time to consider purchasing a new iPad that may suit your needs.

We hope this helps out.

Take care.
