update mac os software from yosemite

My iMac is from 2015 and currently runs OS Yosemite. Browsers aren't compatible with the lower OS. How can I upgrade my software?

A Mid 2015 iMac can run Big Sur – but nothing higher. A Late 2015 iMac can run Monterey – but nothing higher.


By default, the Mac App Store hides old versions of macOS. The only thing it will show you now is Sonoma – which your Mac can't run. To get older versions of macOS, use the links in this Apple Support document:

Note that if you update to Catalina, Big Sur, or Monterey,
