Unable to login MacBook. Froze and kicked me out computer

I was browsing on Amazon and HBOx when my computer screen froze. After a few moments it kicked me out of my computer. The login page displays but it does not show my admin profile. I try to put my name and password and it doesn’t accept them. It keeps locking me out. First 1 min and than 5 min and now 15 minutes.

Login not working after update Yesterday I updated my Mac with the latest OS. Today I cannot log in past the lock screen as it is not accepting my password. I did not change any passwords while updating the OS. I initially updated OS after downloading, clean my Mac software, because I was getting Safari pop-ups. My computer seem to run a lot smoother after that. Again, I did not change any passwords, but I cannot log into my computer now after restarting it. Also I have never set up a recovery key. Please help.

That's sort of a bad sign; an indication the startup disk has suffered some kind of failure.

Even though it describes a different problem, please refer to If your Mac starts up to a circle with a line through it - Apple Support. Follow those four steps.
