2020 macbook pro making spaceship/ alarm type noise

I’ve noticed that recently my MacBook Pro has started making a weird noise either when it’s closed or open. It happens periodically and I can’t figure out why it does it. I’ve tried going into the settings nothing seems to work. Nothing is downloaded that would make it have this noise. I’m currently downloading the new system update to see if that might fix it. Whenever I mute the sound it doesn’t happen. Does anyone else have this issue or can help me solve this problem? It never use to do this before and I haven’t downloaded anything in the past year.

It could be you have some notification set. Go into your System Preferences/Settings on notifications.

The fact remains, you say the audio controls for the Mac turns it off. The speakers themselves could have gotten damaged, but not enough for it not to know the directions to mute.

Audio Midi Setup Utility in Applications -> Utilities should be set to 44.1 kHz/16 bit and no higher. Check and see if that makes a difference.
