Does Apple Business Manager provide dedicated version controlling?

I'm working with a set of customers who will need to deploy our app across a set of iPhones/Pads. They have some very strict requirements for app versioning, and I have not been able to find a clear answer on if ABM can support this:

  1. They must be able to deploy the same version of the app across all devices.
  2. The app needs to remain at the selected version for as long as they desire.
  3. Before deploying a version update to all the devices, they need to be able to test the new version on a select number of devices.

If ABM is able to support this, some guidance on how to set this up would help (online documentation for this would be best). If not, what other options are available?

Apple Business Manager is not an MDM and is not for deploying apps.

Apple Business Essentials is an MDM and lives within business.apple.com. This can be used to deploy apps.

That said, versioning within the MDM is controlled by the versioning within the Volume Purchasing Portal (VPP). Versioning within VPP is controlled by the app developer.

If they need to test before release, they will need to work with the developer.
