How to watch movies on Vision Pro?

I have a number of videos stored in the “Apple TV” app on my Mac that are from other sources than iTunes Store purchases (e.g. videos purchased from other services or home videos). How can I watch these on my Vision Pro? On my iPad I can sync with my Mac, but the Vision Pro doesn’t seem to have a way to do that…Or does Vision Pro only allow you to watch movies purchased from Apple?

thanks!

Thanks, but I'm not really looking to find a new 3P streaming service that happens to have built a Vision Pro app. I'm not looking to mirror my computer's screen. I'm really just trying to figure out how to take a movie file that's currently stored in the iTunes/AppleTV app in my Mac and put it on the Vision Pro so that I can watch it there. Given that it's an expensive device whose flagship feature is watching movies, I'm really hoping there's a way to do this...

Thanks but my whole question is how to watch movies purchased from sources other than the Apple Store…. Like from 3p services or home videos.

this is easy to do on an iPad or iPhone — you just sync those from your computer’s iTunes library. But it seems that the Vision Pro doesn’t let you watch videos from competitors to the iTunes/ Apple TV store.

Swanage,

Yes, you can add video files to the AVP and can view them with a Media Player offline (e.g. Moon Player). Most people probably download video from streaming services like Apple TV+ or Disney which can then be viewed offline. Note that Netflix does not have an official app and their videos can (probably) not be downloaded for offline viewing (there may be a method I am unaware of). However, I use the excellent Supercut app to stream Netflix. Get the 1 TB model if you want to add all your video.

Yes. As repeatedly mentioned above, buy Moon Player on the App Store.

With Moon Player, you can play anything that you copy onto the AVP Storage for offline playback, play stuff served over an SMB share while connected to a LAN, and *almost* any format available. Alas, it won’t play full DVD rips, so you’ll have to transcode those into another format. If you’re a real cheapskate, you could just transcode everything, and use apples Files program to copy Apple-formatted MP4 files and play them using whatever native QuickTime player is embedded into the AVP.

Moon Player is definitely a way to go. I copied my media files onto my iCloud Drive, then moved them to the On my Vision Pro folder.

Yes you can also view using the native viewer in Files.

The biggest problem with both approaches is not having the ability to stop watching mid way through a show and then not being able to pick right back up where you were. (Also not having the cinema immersion is missing).

I have submitted the request multiple times to Apple for adding some mechanism to import to the AVP TV app.

Here's hoping there will be some announcement at WWDC.

Quick follow up as there are now 2 players on the App Store that preserve playback and have immersive playback. I purchased Theater for $4. There is also the Cinemax Player.

I personally liked the look of Theater a bit more.

Cinemax allows you to browse direct from the Files app. Theater, you "add" the videos which I think just points to the originals in the Files app.
