When I logged in to DIRECTV stream on my Apple TV on Friday it worked but since yesterday it keeps saying I have the wrong id or password even though I can login to every other device in my house including my iPhone and iPad. I’ve tried restarting my Apple TV and reinstalling the app but nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated.
I don’t why I had it working beforehand but I followed some advice to switch my Apple TV tv provider to DIRECTV stream and it automatically logged me into app so everything is working now. Hopefully if anyone else has this trouble, my solution will help.

The DirecTV app is for both DirecTV satellite subscribers (when online streaming) as well as DirecTV Stream subscribers (plan for online streaming only). Users should sign in with their DirecTV account credentials (not Apple ID). Note that passwords are usually case-sensitive.
Is all this for one fixed residential home location?
Non-mobile apps might works exclusively on a primary location/registered internet connection. It might not work at different locations. Could that apply? Please verify with the TV provider if they have such stipulations.
What did DirecTV Support say?
This did eventually spread to other hardware versions (1080p) of Apple TVs and even to the iPad pro app. I eventually made too many login attempts and needed to unlock/reset my password. That seemed to resolve the issue. I haven't checked everywhere but it fix my iPad also and Apple TV with the new password.
Apple TV 4K hardware--
Watching a basketball game when I was suddenly logged out. I have my DirecTV account username and password stored in my iPhone so I am able to get that into the DirecTV Apple TV app seamlessly. It fails! "Incorrect user ID or password. Try again. Care Code: 201".
I, too, have reinstalled, restarted, etc. And NO, I am not confusing my Apple TV, iCloud, or Apple ID credentials with my DirecTV account credentials. I understand the difference.
This is my main Apple TV in the house. And this issue seems to be only related to my Apple TV 4K. My 1080p Apple TVs do not seem to have any issues. I can watch the DirecTV app just fine on any other 1080p Apple TV in my house, through a web browser, iPad, iPhone, etc. My ATV4K is updated to 17.3 (21K646).
Unrelated, sometimes my ATV4K will get an error when I try to watch one of the 4K channels. I get this my device is not 4K capable but it is. I have found that if I turn off Dolby Vision and force my device to a certain 4K setting under video settings I can get it to work, some of the time.
I just got hit with this 3 days ago. Nothing I do resolves the issue. I can log in to Direct Stream on my phone, iPad, iMac, and 3 different Roku devices without issue. On the Apple TV (4k) it continues to give me id/password message. Most recent a 201. I deleted the app (and data) and reinstalled - no joy. Went to apple settings on apple tv, logged out of tv provider, and back in - no joy. Gave up and changed the directv password using my imac. Resigned back in on every single device above with no problem -- except the apple tv which simply will not run direct tv app at this point, giving the 201 error code. I can't hardly call directv with this -- every device works except the apple tv which yes, has been rebooted. Any help greatly appreciated - this is pretty obnoxious!
From your description, it seems to me that perhaps something was malfunctioning on the TV provider side, the authentication part specifically.
It seems to be solved now; I hope the issue doesn’t return.
